Debrief & Post-Game

The Debrief Builder

Control what players see post-game on the debrief page — configure photo sharing, review prompts, leaderboards, tips, and promotions in a drag-and-drop builder

The Debrief Builder gives you full control over what players see post-game on their debrief page — photo layouts, review prompts, leaderboard rankings, tip jars, and custom promotions. Configure the layout once, and every completed group uses it automatically. You can tailor messaging per room so the debrief for your horror room feels different from your family-friendly one.

Using the builder

Open Debrief Builder from the sidebar. The left panel shows your widget list and settings, and the right panel shows a live preview of the debrief page.

Toggle between Desktop (two-column layout) and Mobile (single-column) views. Each view has its own layout — you can show, hide, and arrange widgets independently for desktop and mobile.

Pro Tip: Most players open the debrief page on their phone from the email or text link. Always check the mobile preview to make sure widgets stack well on small screens.

Showing, hiding, and reordering widgets

Drag widgets between sections to control what appears on the debrief page:

  • Desktop view: Drag widgets between Left Column, Right Column, and Inactive.
  • Mobile view: Drag widgets between Active and Inactive.

Widgets in Inactive don't appear on the debrief page. Drag them back to an active section when you're ready to show them.

Editing widget settings

Open any widget's settings in two ways:

  • Click the widget's name in the left panel.
  • Hover over a widget in the preview and click the edit icon.

Both open the same settings panel.

Preview settings

Click Preview Settings above the preview to control what data is shown:

  • Filler Data: Preview with sample data. Choose an Escape Status (Escaped or Failed) and a Group Type (Single Group or Event) to see how widgets render for different outcomes.
  • Live Data: Preview with real data from a completed group. Select a Group and then a Player to see that player's actual debrief page.

If your location has multiple languages enabled, a language selector lets you preview in each configured language.

Publishing changes

Changes in the builder are saved only when you publish. The button in the top-right shows the current state:

  • PUBLISH CHANGES: You have unsaved edits. Click to apply them.
  • ALL CHANGES SAVED: Your published configuration is what players see.

Common Mistake: Most changes aren't saved until you publish. If you close the builder without publishing, your edits are lost. (The exception is Add Custom Post, which saves immediately.)

Screen size requirement

The Debrief Builder requires a screen at least 1,200px wide. On smaller screens, the builder displays a message asking you to use a desktop or laptop.

Debrief page widgets

Photo

Displays the group's photos with optional commenting and sharing controls.

Show Comment
Toggle the comment section below the photos.
Comment Text
Text shown below the photos. Supports Default, Escaped, and Failed variants, plus a separate Event variant.
Comment Author
Attribute the comment to your business name or the game master ("Guide"). Optionally set a Guide Title label.
Facebook
Toggle the Facebook sharing button on photos.

Photos display in a grid of up to five images. If the group has more, a count badge shows additional photos. Players can click to open all photos in a side panel, each with its own share button when sharing is enabled.

Photo overlays are configured per room under Image Overlays, not in the Debrief Builder.

Review

Turns debrief visits into reviews on the platforms that matter to your business.

Show Author
Toggle the author section.
Message Author
Attribute the message to your business name or the game master ("Guide"). Optionally set a Guide Title label.
Message Header
The heading for your review request. Supports Default, Escaped, and Failed variants, plus a separate Event variant.
Message Text
The body text asking for a review. Same variant support as the header.
Show Review Button
Toggle the review call-to-action.
Button Text
The label on the review button.
Button Type
Choose Single Link (one destination) or Multiple Links (player chooses).
Single Link
The destination URL when using Single Link mode.
Review Links (Multiple)
Add links for Google, TripAdvisor, Yelp, and Facebook.

Pro Tip: Most players will only click one review button. If you want to maximize volume on a single platform, use a single Google or TripAdvisor link. If you want coverage across platforms, show multiple options.

Leaderboard

Shows the group's ranking compared to other teams for the same room — a strong motivator for rebooking.

All Time
Toggle the All Time leaderboard view.
Last 30 Days
Toggle the Last 30 Days leaderboard view.
Choose Which Leaderboard To Show On Load
Which enabled view to display first.
Leaderboard Length
How many entries to display (1–10).
Always Show Current Group's Ranking
Highlight the player's group even if they're not in the top entries.

Ranking metrics (which value is used for ranking and how it's displayed) are configured per room on the Customize Leaderboard page, not in the Debrief Builder.

Contact

Displays your business contact information so players can find you easily.

Header Text
The section title.
Email
Toggle email display.
Phone
Toggle phone display.
Website
Toggle website link.
Address
Toggle address display.

Contact data is pulled from your location settings. Update your phone, email, address, and website in SettingsLocation.

Tip jar

Lets players tip their game master directly from the debrief page.

Guide Title
The label shown next to the game master's name.
Message Header
The tip request heading.
Message Text
The tip request body text.
Button Text
The call-to-action label.

The widget displays the game master's name automatically, along with their photo when one is available. It only appears when a game master is assigned to the group and has a Tip Jar Link set in their profile. If no link is configured, the widget is hidden even if it's in an active layout section. The tip jar is also hidden for event groups.

Tip Jar Links are configured per game master on their detail page under Game Masters. Each game master can have their own link to a tipping service like Venmo, CashApp, or any URL.

Custom posts

Flexible content blocks for promotions, announcements, or rebooking links. Click Add Custom Post to create a new one.

Custom Post Name
A label to identify this post in the builder (not shown to players).
Show Post Author
Toggle author attribution. Choose business or game master.
Post Message
The main content text.
Show Photo
Toggle an image. Upload, change, or remove the image.
Post Comment
Additional text below the main content, with its own author attribution.
Show Button
Toggle a call-to-action button with custom Button Name and Button Link.

You can create multiple custom posts and position them anywhere in the layout. To delete a post, open its settings and click DELETE POST.

Example: Add a custom post with a "Book Your Next Room" button linking to your booking page. Position it right after the photo widget when the experience is freshest.

Event results

For multi-room events, shows results across all rooms — giving corporate groups and parties a full picture of how each team performed.

Header Text
The section title.
Show Room Images
Whether to display room photos alongside results.

This widget only appears for players in event groups. It's hidden for regular single-group games.

Room-specific messaging

Widget layout is set at the location level, but messaging can vary per room — so your pirate-themed room gets different copy than your sci-fi room.

To configure room-specific messaging, select a room from the room dropdown in the settings panel. You can override:

  • Photo comment — the text below the photo widget (Default, Escaped, and Failed variants)
  • Review message — the heading and body text in the review widget (same variants)

Event messaging is configured separately from the room dropdown and applies to all event groups.

If a room has its own messaging configured, that's used. Otherwise, the default messaging applies.

Behind the Scenes: Your debrief configuration is stored as a single settings object on your location. When a player visits their debrief page, Escape Kit combines your layout with the player's group data — photos, results, game master — and resolves room-level messaging overrides for whichever room the group played.
